Is the Procedure Painful?

Most people experience minimal discomfort during IV therapy. The initial needle insertion may cause a slight pinch, but once the catheter is in place, the discomfort is usually minimal. A skilled nurse will ensure the procedure is as painless as possible.

The NAD+ IV therapy drip can cause discomfort but the drip is titrated to ensure that it is minisised. For this reason you will see that NAD + infusion are over 2 to 3hrs.

Is Nutrient Therapy covered by Medical Aid?

IV therapy is typically not covered by medical aids. Medical conditons requiring IV medications will need be discussed with your doctor and then authorised by the medical aid.

Premier Revive may assist with the administration of prescription medications but this needs to be confirmed. Please email: bookings@premierrevive.co.za

These prescription medications will be under the administration of Dr Claire Castelyn.

How long does the session last?

An IV therapy session typically lasts between 20 to 40 minutes. This can vary depending on the type of treatment and your individual needs. Please ensure you arrive 5 minute before your session, to assist us with running on time.

  • Eat a snack: Have a snack before your appointment to maintain stable blood sugar levels and prevent nausea or lightheadedness.

  • Wear comfortable clothing: Choose loose and comfortable clothing to allow easy access to your arm for IV placement.

  • Bring entertainment: IV therapy sessions typically last 20-40 minutes. Consider bringing something quiet to do during the treatment or you can just also kick back and relax.

  • Wait before wetting the injection site: Avoid wetting the injection site for at least 1 hour after your treatment.

  • Avoid strenuous activities: Refrain from strenuous activities for 24 hours to allow proper healing.

  • Protect the injection site: Avoid rough contact with the injection site for 48 hours to prevent irritation.

  • Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water following your IV therapy to maintain the benefits and support your overall well-being.

  • Resume normal hygiene: You can shower or bathe as usual after your IV therapy session.

  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle: Remember that IV therapy supplements a healthy lifestyle. Continue to eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep to support your overall well-being.
